Fire restrictions lifted in Jefferson County
Contributed by: Jim Shires on 8/19/2008

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office lifted the Temporary Fire Restriction Order for unincorporated Jefferson County, at 3 p.m. on August 18, 2008.

Recent rainfall and cooler temperatures have reduced the danger of wildfire, however, people are encouraged to be vigilant as the danger of fire is always present in the high country. Many people will be enjoying the mountains and parks the rest of the summer and citizens should be reminded to use caution when starting and extinguishing campfires, disposing of lighted cigarettes, and other activities that involve the use of fire or sparks. Warm and windy days can quickly lower the fuel moisture content of trees and grasses, making them susceptible to ignition.
