Editor's Note: A letter to the editor by Lois Florkey will be printed in the Aug. 21 YourHub.com print edition. The letter states the Recall Vince Chowdhury Campaign is planning to speak at the school board meeting on Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. to ask Vince Chowdhury to comply with the Jeffco Board of Education's request to resign. However, Vince Chowdhury has resigned, and news of the resignation was received after YourHub.com's deadline for the print edition.

Vince Chowdhury is resigning from the Jefferson County Board of Education effective August 21, 2008. In a written statement, Chowdhury said he was stepping down to focus on personal, family issues. Chowdhury was asked to resign by his fellow board members in the wake of his arrest and guilty plea for 3rd degree assault in July.

The Board of Education is expected to declare a vacancy for the position at its next regular meeting on Aug. 21 at 6 p.m.
