ALLEGED THIEF RUNS LIKE A DUCK
An officer was dispatched to the 7-11 at 17881 W. Colfax Ave. at 3:32 a.m. April
14 because an employee said a man came into the store, jumped over the counter grabbed a bunch of cigarette lighters and ran out. The 47-year-old woman told police she was in the back office when she heard the door alarm. When she came out of the office, she yelled "Hey," at the man. He turned around, looked at her and fled with a handful of lighters. She said the man was wearing a baseball
cap, black ski mask, a gray coat and sunglasses. She said he fled on foot heading eastbound and looked like a duck as he ran, because his pants were falling down below his buttocks. The officer took sneaker prints from the counter. The value of the lighters was estimated at $275. A security tape was submitted to police.
LIGHTS OFF AT TACO BELL
Two officers went to the Taco Bell at 17764 S. Golden Road at midnight on April 11 because the manager called and said someone had turned off the electricity. The manager showed the officer an exterior unlocked breaker box. No one could describe the perpetrator, because it was dark. The officer searched South Golden Road, but found no one running away from the scene.
NEIGHBOR SAYS TURN DOWN THE MUSIC
A 36-year-old woman who lives in an apartment complex on the 1400 block of Utah
Street signed a complaint against her neighbor on April 11 at 4:30 p.m. She said she had asked her 19-year-old neighbor to turn down his music before. It was so loud, she was unable to take a nap. She said when she went to his apartment and asked him to turn down the music, he rudely said he would, then slammed the door in her face. The officer contacted the tenant. He claimed he was respectful of the woman, even though she was yelling at him. He was issued a ticket for disturbing the peace because the incident had happened before.
