At about 11:10 p.m. Feb. 24, a deputy was dispatched to the intersection of Buffalo Creek and LeMasters roads in Evergreen on report of a criminal mischief incident in which several mailboxes had been damaged, according to a report. Upon arrival, the deputy noted six mailboxes appeared to have been hit with a blunt instrument, causing dents in the mailboxes, the report said. One mailbox was plastic and had been broken into pieces lying on the ground next to the post the mailbox had been perched upon, according to the report. The deputy called the 54-year-old Evergreen man who had reported the incident, who told him the mailboxes had been damaged between 7 and 11 p.m., the report said. The man said his mailbox was the plastic one that had been shattered, according to the report. The man also said the mailboxes had been damaged seven or eight times in the past, the most recent incident being about three months ago, the report said. The man said he had never reported the damage in the past, according to the report. The deputy drove to the end of Buffalo Creek Road and found four additional mailboxes in the 29000-32000 blocks of that had also been damaged, the report said.

At about 9:24 a.m. Feb. 25, a deputy was dispatched to the 4800 block of Forest Hill Road in Evergreen on report of criminal mischief, according to reports. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the 89-year-old Evergreen man who reported the incident, the report said. The man said he had walked to the end of his driveway to get his newspaper at 8 a.m. and found that his mailbox was damaged, according to the report. The man said the damage had occurred between 3 p.m. the previous day, when he had retrieved his mail, and 8 a.m the next morning, the report said. The man said he had found his street number sign to be damaged and found someone else’s mailbox lying in his driveway on Feb. 20 and had filed a report with the sheriff’s office, according to the report. The deputy checked the area for any other damaged mailboxes, and found a shattered mailbox at the corner of Forest Hill Road and the south end of Mariposa Road, the report said, as well as another mailbox at the corner of Forest Hill Road and the north end of Mariposa Road that had been knocked off its post. The deputy contacted the owner of the mailbox, a 55-year-old Evergreen man who said a sheriff’s deputy had found his mailbox in someone else’s driveway on Feb. 21 and returned it, and the man had put it back on the post at that time, the report said. The man said his mailbox had been on its post on Feb. 24 when he had retrieved his mail from it, according to the report. The deputy found another damaged mailbox in the 4600 block of Forest Hill Road, and attempted to contact its owner to no avail, the report said. The deputy then found another damaged mailbox in the 4500 block of Forest Hill Road, and attempted to contact its owner, who wasn’t home, according to the report. At about 12:10 p.m., the deputy was dispatched to the same home in the 4500 block of Forest Hill Road on a report of criminal mischief, according to the report. The mailbox’s owner, a 69-year-old Evergreen man, said the mailbox might have been damaged between Feb. 1 and Feb. 2, the report said. The deputy found another damaged mailbox in the 4500 block of Forest Hill Road and attempted to contact the owner to no avail, the report said.

At about 1:57 p.m. Feb. 25, a deputy was dispatched to the 6900 block of Columbine Road on a report of criminal mischief, according to a report. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke iwth a 51-year-old Evergreen man who said he had walked across the street to get his newspaper at about 11 a.m. and found that his mailbox had been damaged, the report said. The man said the damage occurred between 4 p.m. Feb. 24 when he retrieved his mail and 11 a.m. Feb. 25, according to the report. The man said his mailbox was damaged beyond repair and that he would have to replace it, the report said. The deputy checked the area for other damaged mailboxes and found six more in the 6800-7000 block of Columbine Road, but none on Elaine Road or Snowshoe Drive, the report said.

At about 8:45 p.m. Feb. 26, a deputy was dispatched to the 10400 block of Shadow Brook Lane in Conifer on a report of criminal mischief, according to a report. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with a Conifer resident who said a row of ten mailboxes belonging to himself and his neighbors had been damaged, the report said. Out of the row of ten mailboxes, only eight are usable, because, the man said, a few years ago, someone had damaged the mailboxes, so he filled the outside two mailboxes in the row with cement to prevent such damage in the future, the report said. The man said all the mailboxes in the row would have to be replaced and provided the names and phone numbers of the owners of the other mailboxes, the report said.

At about 2:38 p.m. Feb. 26, a deputy was dispatched to call a 77-year-old Conifer man who lived in the 24800 block of Shiloh Lane in reference to a criminal mischief incident, according to a report. The man told the deputy that at about 11 a.m. that morning, he went to get his mail from his mailbox and observed what appeared to be “shaving cream and dog droppings” smeared on his mailbox, and that the substances were not there at 4:15 p.m. the day before, the report said. The man said there was no damage done to the mailbox and that he did not wish to press charges if any suspects were caught.

At about 5:21 p.m. Feb. 26, a deputy was dispatched to the 13000 block of Lori Drive and spoke to a 52-year-old Conifer man who said that between the hours of 9 a.m. Feb. 25 and 9 a.m. Feb. 26, someone had placed “very smelly mustard covered sardines” inside his mailbox, and inside the mailboxes of three of his neighbors, according to a report. The man said someone had sprayed some type of shaving cream on all the mailboxes, and that there was no damage, the report said. The man said on a prior occasion, someone had put raw fish in the same four mailboxes, and he presumed the same people were responsible for the sardine attack, the report said. The man said he would prosecute if suspects were identified.

At about 6:49 a.m. Feb. 28, a deputy was dispatched to a to take a phone report of criminal mischief in the 27800 block of Columbine Road, according to a report. A 48-year-old Evergreen man reported that sometime between 10 p.m. Feb. 24 and 9 a.m. Feb. 25, someone had damaged his mailbox. The man said his mailbox is located with three others on the corner of Forest Hills Road and Columbine Road and his was the only one damaged, the report said. The man said it appeared someone had hit his mailbox with a baseball bat, and it cost him $10 to replace the mailbox, the report said.
