Woman released with apologies
On July 8 at 4:41 p.m., officers were dispatched to a REDDI report on a suspect seen allegedly waving a gun at the reporting party on eastbound Sixth Avenue. The 73-year-old female driver was stopped near Sixth Avenue and Heritage Road. The officer spoke to her about her driving and asked her to pull over. After she gave consent to search the vehicle, officers found no weapons and she did not appear intoxicated. The woman was released with apologies.
All quiet at residence
On July 21 at 9:50 p.m., an officer went to the 17400 block of West 16th Avenue. The caller reported a loud party, but when the officer arrived, the area was quiet and no one answered the door.
Shots fired report yields nothing
On July 22 at 1:05 a.m., officers went to the area of First Street and Ford Street on a call of possible shots fired. The officers checked the area and listened for additional shots, but none were heard and nothing suspicious was discovered.
Man reported drinking
On July 20 at 2 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Golden Liquors, 601 13th St. on a call of an intoxicated 37-year-old man at the establishment. By the time officers arrived, the man was gone, but officers located him at the corner of 14th and Ford streets at a bus stop. He had been drinking, but was with a sober party.
Mix-up on rental car
On July 19 at 9:02 a.m., an officer went to the Hits the Spot Cafe, 2501 Ford St. on a suspicious person call. A man was contacted sitting in a red Pontiac. A check on the license plate showed the vehicle as stolen, but the man said it was a rented car and he had been trying to contact Avis to extend the rental agreement. His rental agreement said the car was supposed to be returned by June 7. After contacting Avis, the officer was told the car should have been listed as missing, not stolen. The officer made the correction in the system and the man was released.
