Golden Library closing for renovations
Contributed by: Bethany Frisbie on 5/13/2008

The Golden Library, located at 1019 Tenth St., in Golden, is closing for renovations from May 19 through June 27, 2008. Nine other Jefferson County Public Library locations will be open during the Golden closure. Closest are the Lakewood, Belmar and Arvada libraries.

"The Golden Library has been an important community resource for many years," said Golden Library Manager Kim Tobler. "We are excited about the renovation and look forward to reopening on June 28, so we can share the improvements with our loyal patrons."

When Golden reopens it will offer new self-service options, including three self-checkout units and a holds pickup area. The library will also have new carpet and wall coverings where they were most needed and upgraded plumbing.

During the renovation, patrons can return materials to the exterior book drops or at any of the nine other library locations. Patrons are asked to take book donations to the Lakewood Library or hold them until the Golden Library reopens. Holds with the Golden Library as the designated pick-up location will be available at the Lakewood Library, 10200 W. 20th Avenue, during the closure unless other arrangements are made.

Jefferson County Public Library Summer Reading Clubs begin on June 1 and run through July 31. Kids, teens and adults can sign up at any library location. The Lakewood Library is offering additional Summer Reading Club programs to accommodate Golden patrons. Additionally, the June American Sign Language (ASL) storytimes will be held at the Lakewood Library.

For questions regarding holds, or to renew items by phone, please contact 303-235-JCPL (5275).

Golden Library staff is hosting an open house on Saturday, June 28 beginning at 10 a.m. Light refreshments, entertainment, storytimes and other activities for children will be offered.
