Dream Dinners in Wheat Ridge announces first family in need to receive $200 in meals.
Wheat Ridge, CO - September 8
Dream Dinners®, Wheat Ridge location announces the
Peterson family as the first family to be awarded $200 worth of dinners from their "Nurture Your Neighbor" program.
The "Nurture Your Neighbor" program was unveiled last month as a means of supporting the community. Each month nominations of families in crisis will be accepted from the surrounding communities. From these nominations, one family will be selected to receive $200 worth of meals from Dream Dinners®. DiAnne Butler, a long time guest of Dream Dinners, provided the nomination for the Peterson family.
Jim and
Suzi Peterson suffered a hardship last month when their 18-year old son,
Zach, became paralyzed from a severe car accident. Instead of starting college this fall, Zach will be learning about life in a wheel chair and undergoing rigorous rehabilitation to challenge the doctor's prognosis that he may never walk again.
Zach is undergoing treatment in Englewood at Craig Hospital which specializes in spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Zach and his parents will reside at Craig Hospital through September where they will teach him to live independently. Zach will then return to a home that will need to be modified for wheelchair access, until he is ready to return to his dreams of college.
"This family is truly an inspiration. Both parents are self employed so if they don't work, no income is coming in. Although they have insurance, not all costs will be covered and they will be incurring so many other expenses. I'm just so grateful for this gift of Dream Dinners meals to help the family," said
DiAnn Butler, nominator and customer of Dream Dinners Wheat Ridge.

Nominations for families in-need are still being accepted via e-mail to kiplingi70co@dreamdinners.com or in-person at 4980 Kipling St, Unit A3. Eligible families include, and are not limited to, those with a debilitating disease; have suffered the loss of a family member, or the loss of their home in a fire, or are struggling to make ends meat due to extenuating circumstances. Nominations should be 1,000 words or less, include the nominator's name and contact information and should include a complete description of the family and their situation. One family will be chosen and announced every month.
