Go behind the scenes @ WMFR'S new training center

NEW FIRE TRAINING CENTER AND FIRE STATION OPENS IN LAKEWOOD WITH EXCLUSIVE BEHIND THE SCENES TOURS FOR THE COMMUNITY

West Metro Fire Rescue is pleased to announce the opening of new Fire Station 10 and the West Metro Fire Rescue Training Facility at 3535 South Kipling Parkway (southwest corner of Hampden and Kipling).

The community is invited to join the celebration on Community Day, Saturday, October 10 from 10 am - 2 pm. The new center provides a wide array of training opportunities to meet the needs of our fire fighters. From technical rescues in trenches to high/low angle rescues from the rocks, fire fighters will be demonstrating how they use their skills to rescue people from the wildest of predicaments.

The new, state-of-the art fire props include a house and commercial structure that creates fire scenarios from single family basement fires to the most complex commercial building or strip mall fires.

This is your backstage pass to a "Behind the Scenes" tour and demonstrations. Live fire scenarios, rescues, auto extrications, technical rescues and more!

The grand opening celebration for Station 10 will begin at noon as fire fighters disconnect a "ribbon" of fire hose to pull the trucks out of the station. More than 200 West Metro Kids Club members will be standing side by side with fire fighters for this exciting ceremony.

A hot dog lunch will be available for purchase ($3) with proceeds benefitting West Metro's fire and injury prevention programs.

The event is FREE but an RSVP is appreciated. Call 303-989-4307 ext. 543.

The relocation of Station 10 and the construction of a fire fighter training facility were paid for through a special bond election in 2007. West Metro is grateful to the community for its support and encourages everyone to stop by and visit during the Community Day.
