Three Golden girls meet Katie Couric
Contributed by: Mo Lukens on 7/21/2006

Three colon-cancer survivors met Katie Couric at downtown Denver event on July 13.

Kim lives in Evergreen but has her business in Golden - Golden Greetings she my best friend and she just found out she had colon cancer a couple of months ago and went through surgery and is now home free - cancer free -

I am will be going to Washington, D.C. as a volunteer advocate. In Sept. I will be returning for my sixth time to ask our Congressmen and House Reps to make cancer a national priority by continuing funding for the National Institute of Health and the National Cancer Institute, as well as saving some programs for cancer early detection and treatment for the underserved in our great nation.

Kim wants to let everyone know to get screened for colon cancer. She said, "Get your butt checked." It is with humor that we hope to get people more comfortable with the word "colon" like everyone did with "breast." Kim wanted to meet Katie so she could use her picture in the crusade, and Linda is a friend of ours who went through stage 3 colon cancer and is now cancer free.
