A temporary order effective immediately through 2:00 PM December 21, 2006 authorizes the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to tow and remove vehicles left abandoned on State and Interstate highways.
In the interest of public safety abandoned vehicles must be removed immediately to allow snow removal equipment to plow and clear snow packed roadways. Additionally abandoned vehicles left in the roadway create hazards for the snow plows and other vehicular traffic including emergency vehicles.
Every effort will be made to move any abandoned vehicles to a safe location near where the vehicle was left abandoned.
