Father or Felon

Over the last few years we have seen some people with governmental influence mad at a man for taking a stance and defending our home. I know this man as the Father of my children. My children know him as their father and call him Daddy.

I have recently found out that it is okay for Human Services to start a case only because they lost another. I think it is sad and vindictive what they are doing. Do they (human services) not understand that residents want them to spend their tax money wisely and not on personal issues masked by court proceedings?

This Father won a case a few years ago and stopped evil in it's track. When you are a family caught in the system you don't know when the "waves" are going to stop. Jefferson County human services judged my husband before the trial. According to them my husband didn't know how to parent or raise our children (a racial stereotype even though he had a double major in college in youth ministries and psychology). They eventually lost the case. But at what expense? Stereotypes are a dangerous thing.

To this day I still believe they are HIGHLY upset that a man won a case against them. (They did everything within their power to shut this man down) Numerous people have found it hard to believe that a man actually beat social services. People don't win these cases... especially men.

With as many changes as Human Services had to do in their dealings with "this father", you would think that eventually these individuals would stop doing evil in the name of the people of Jefferson County. They don't.

In our dealings with some Jefferson County Government workers I found out that my husband was "black" and he learned that I was "white". Outside of the government building, the community welcomed and embraced us and treated us like people. We met many decent people when we lived there. These people DID NOT look at us with the stain colored glasses of race.

Now (jump ahead 4 years) there is another case (started by these same government workers), where he is now being called a FELON!! Ironically my husband had NO problems with the law until we moved to Jefferson County, but once back in the Midwest his "criminal activity" (suddenly) stopped. Go figure that one out. This has culture and race written all over it.

I believe people have come a long way when it comes to race and stereotypes. Not all black men are criminals, just like all "whites" are not high school killers or mail bombers. This government needs to understand prejudice DOES NOT have a place in this county and we as a people have come a long way. We will not turn back to the racism of the past. No matter how it "looks". Lets not be ignorant and blind. Racial problems do still exist. But I know Jefferson County residents are good people and their true voice and attitude is not being represented properly by these government workers in. How dare they say personal prejudice is okay, in the County's name. Thats just plain old sick.

He is NOT a Felon just a FATHER.
