A new foal at Golden's Clear Creek History Park was kicking up its heels in the corral to the delight of kids and adults who wandered along the Clear Creek Trail on July 2.
Only 8 days old, the foal still needs a name, according to museum staff member
Jessica Lira
.
"We've been asking people to make suggestions. Today someone suggested Daisy," she said.
The donkeys are at the museum on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They were invited to highlight the turn of the century lifestyle the museum exhibits.
A rotating cast of donkeys will appear each week. According to
Mark Dodge
, exhibit facility director,
Bill Lee
brings the donkeys from his Laughing Valley Ranch in Idaho Springs each week.
"This is the first time we've done this," said Dodge.
"Donkeys were considered to be smarter and more sure footed than horses. They were a mode of transportation," he said.
