We saved Forrest's life, what about the rest?
Contributed by: sheri moore on 8/26/2008

The Denver / Aurora BREED SPECIFIC Dog Ban has caused thousands of innocent dogs to be taken from their families and put to death which has caused many families of these once beloved pets immense grief and sorrow.
Some, like Forrest , are incarcerated and killed for the simple fact that they may have looked like a Pitbull . Forrest was found in the City of Denver walking down a street. He actually lived in the next county over.19 month old Forrest never bit, attacked or hurt anyone. He was never considered vicious, even by the Director of the Denver Municipal Shelter, Doug Kelley, who said, "he was a sweetie".

We had a victory and Forrest was released , but not back to his owner, Chris McGahey. Forrest is being released to a rescue group. Right now, there are hundreds of other dogs just like Forrest sitting in shelters here in our cities awaiting their death penalty for simply "wearing the wrong set of clothes" so to speak. If no one speaks up for them, like Chris Mcgahey did for his dog, they will not be as lucky as Forrest is today.

What breed will be the next target for Denver and Aurora once all the Pits are gone? My guess, the Golden Retriever, since they rate high as far as human bite incidences go, as you will see in this link.

The Denver / Aurora BREED SPECIFIC dog ban is a witch hunt, I don't even have a pitbull but can tell you if I did, I would be living far away from these cities. I always thought this was a "dog friendly" place, now, I don't feel the same about that opinion. To Forrest, I say "good luck little fellow, may your life be a good and happy one.

The following link (video), though a day late and after Forrest's release is still very valid.
Cross promoting and posting is encouraged and considered "righteous".
It serves as a thumb print in time, a reminder of all the dogs still in custody, and a tool to educate the unknowing.
Grab it, use it, abuse it, share it, put it under your pillow at night and hope for the pit fairy to deliver all good dogs to the nearest bed or dog park or water bowl or couch.
