Marjorie Sloan is ideal council candidate
Contributed by: Carol Dickinson on 10/8/2007

1st district candidate for Golden City Council is Marjorie Sloan. As Foothills Art Center Board member, she twice served as board president during her 1996 to 2002 term. As the then-executive director I interacted with her extensively. I recognized her outstanding leadership qualities and integrity.

Marjorie was always ready to plan a fundraiser, advise on nonprofit legalities, pour punch at receptions ... and never spilled the punch!

She is a lawyer with the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. The in-depth research and writing she does for federal appellate judge in six Southwestern states have given her a vast fund of information on public issues.

One of Marjorie's favorite words is "vision." She shares with many citizens the ideal that Golden should retain its small town appeal while solving its need for economic security and growth.

She believes in assessing the welfare and will of the people. Our board meetings often addressed serious and controversial issues. Marjorie has a superb talent for reconciling differences. As an art-lover, she intuitively understood what was "good." Her campaign slogan is "For the Good of Golden." Based on my experiences with Marjorie-"Believe it!"
