Fellow Golden Residents,
This my announcement as a candidate for Golden City Council, District 1. In addition to the fact that I have lived in our city for 32 years, I am the current Chair of the Planning Commission, as well as a member of our Downtown Character Committee. I am an attorney in the federal court system.
My prior community involvement includes service on the Golden Urban Renewal Authority Board, the Jefferson County District Attorney Advisory Council, and the Citizens Police Academy. I also participated in drafting Golden's Comprehensive Plan.
Golden is the city where my husband
Dendy Sloan, a professor at the Colorado School of Mines, and I chose to raise our family and where we intend to stay. I have seen the city face changes and challenges. And there will be more to come. My goal is to blend my experience with your ideas to keep Golden the treasure of the Front Range.
How we meet the changes and challenges is up to us as a community. Dozens of issues presently face our community and many more will arise. Foremost, though, is the continuing question of how to protect our small-town charm. A strong local economy will give us flexibility to make sound decisions.
If elected to city council, I promise to work hard, carefully study the issues, and act always for the good of Golden. I welcome you to ask more about my ideas and principles by e-mailing me at Marjorie_Sloan at Comcast.net.
I ask for your vote.
Very truly yours,
Marjorie Sloan
Thoughtful. Experienced.
