$44.5 MILLION is our current budget for 2008 for Lone Tree, excluding Ballot issues 2A,B & C. Population for Lone Tree is 10,439 as of Jan 08. Is $4,500 per person not enough?
Vote No on 2A. $18 million for a cultural arts center with seating for 325?? Let's use our churches that sit empty six days a week. Check out the Lone Tree Symphony May 9th at Cornerstone Baptist, it works just fine. Take light rail to Denver Center for Performing Arts. Our taxes subsidize RTD, let's use it not compete against it with more tax dollars. What will the operating loss be per year to run this facility?
Vote NO on 2B. $12 million for recreation facilities. We already pay South Suburban property taxes and fees for recreation facilities. The Lone Tree budget for 2008 includes $1.5 million for parks and recreation. Recreation facilities are important for us, pay for them within the current budget
Vote NO on 2C. $6.875 million for non-motorized underpasses and overpasses. Use the pedestrian crossings
Lone Tree's city expenditures were $16 million in 2004 and are $44.9 million in 2008. Total revenue for 2008 is estimated at $33.4 million, we are spending $11 million more than our revenue. We are using sales tax from non residents to support a bloated budget. We take their dollars, but don't let them attend our July 4 th fireworks. We were told it was cheaper to have our own police force than contract the service from Douglas County. The police budget was $2.9 million in 2004 and is$5.3 million in 2008.
Get the point across to our officials and vote NO, NO and NO, on 2A, B & C
