CSM swimming & diving teams compete at the UNLV Winter Invitational
LAS VEGAS , Nev. (Dec. 15-17) - The Colorado School of Mines men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed at the UNLV Winter Invitational this past Dec. 15-17.
Mines had some great individual performances at the predominantly Division I meet.
The Orediggers were paced by sophomore
Kevin Shaw
who finished 10th and 12th respectively in his events. Shaw finished 10th in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4:09.26 while he was 12th in the 200 Breaststroke (2:09.61). Teammate
Sergey Piletski
made two top 20 performances in both the 200 Backstroke and the 200 Breaststroke. Piletski was 18th in the Backstroke (1:55.62) and 20th in the Breaststroke (2:11.17).
For the women,
Angel Forsling
made it to the finals in three events. She finished 20th in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:08.76. She finished 23rd in both the 100 Butterfly (1:01.01) and 200 Breaststroke (2:29.90).
In the diving events,
Chandra Lippitt
finished in ninth place in the 1-meter event with a score of 179.15. For the men,
Chris Moore
and
Simon Demby-Myers
were 16th and 18th respectively in the 3 meter event. Moore was 16th with a score of 164.10 while Demby-Myers was 18th with 149.05.
The Oredigger swimming and diving teams won't return to action until after the holidays on Jan. 12. They will host Metro State at 10 a.m.
