Mines lands three on All-RMAC teams

Gaffney named East Division Freshman of the Year

The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team had three players named to the 2007-08 All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball teams, Feb. 27 by the RMAC.

Brecca Gaffney, a forward from Greeley, Colorado (Northridge High School), was named as the 2007-08 East Division Freshman of the Year. Gaffney averaged 9.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in her 24 games played this season. She started 21 of her 24 games played after sitting out a couple of games due to injury.

Emily Dalton, a sophomore forward from Golden, Colorado (Arvada West High School) was named to the Second Team All-RMAC East Division. Dalton led all Orediggers this season with her 13.9 points per game average and was second with her 5.8 rebounds per game average. Her 13.9 ppg average ranks her 10th in the RMAC.

Orediggers point guard, Sara "Peanut" Eickelman was the third individual to earn honors as she was named to the Honorable Mention All-RMAC East Division. Eickelman played in and started all 29 games for the Orediggers this season and averaged 9.3 points per game and 4.4 boards per game. She led the team in steals and assists. Her 2.0 steals per game average ranked her third in the RMAC while she was ranked seventh, averaging 3.03 assists per game.

Mines just missed the playoffs this season as they finished with an overall record of 13-16 and 8-11 in conference play.
