Colorado School of Mines won the team championship at the 2008 Colorado School of Mines / Regis University Fall Invitational (par 71), which was held on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 8 and 9, at Fox Hollow Golf Course in Lakewood.
The Orediggers, who held a nine-stroke lead over Fort Hays State University after the first two rounds of play on Monday, concluded the event with a three-round team stroke total of 867 (+15) to finish seven strokes ahead of the Regis University A Team (874; +22). Colorado State University - Pueblo (876; +24) placed third, FHSU (878; +26) finished fourth and the Colorado Christian University A Team (887; +35) took fifth place.
CSM's
Jim Knous (70, 70, 67; -6) and
Patrick Hill (71, 71, 73; +2) finished in first and second place, respectively, on the individual leaderboard. CSU - Pueblo's
David Duarte (72, 72, 72), Regis University's
Greg Johnson (A Team; 78, 69, 69) and
Charlie Musierak (B Team; 75, 71, 70) and FHSU's
Aaron Mapel (75, 71, 70) concluded the two-day event in a four-way tie for third place at +3.
The Orediggers are scheduled to compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Head-to-Head #1 event on Monday and Tuesday, September 15th and 16th, at The Heritage Golf Course at Westmoor (hosted by Regis University) in Westminster, Colo.
