11 Work Hard to become Black Belts in Golden
Contributed by: tom srsich on 11/15/2005

In a grueling 4-hour test on Saturday Nov. 12, 11 students at Golden Tae Kwon Do Family Center worked hard to get their 1st and 2nd degree Black Belts. Students from 9-year-old Ben Williams to students who would rather you not know how old they are showed excellence in knowing 30 different forms and 8 breaking techniques. The testing also included 200 push ups and sit ups. Highlights of the testing included 11-year-old Peter Srsich's solo Tea Guk 7 hand and foot form.  13-year-old Nate Cusack broke a paving brick on his first attempt. Another highlight was the number of family members that tested and recieved black belts during this test.

The semi annual test is the culmunation of years of hard work. Students showcase their knowledge of basic Tae Kwon Do forms, self defense, sparring skills and breaking techniques.

Receiving their second degree black belts were Peter Srsich, Britta Eustice, and Sue Williams. First degree was earned by Ben and SierraWilliams, Angelica and Helen Scanu, Beth and Justin Pestonik, Wendy Johnson and Nate Cusack.

Master Douglas Kim said that this was one of the best tests he had been a part of during his 10 years as Tae Kwon Do master of this studio.
