GOLDEN BOY SHINES AT NATIONAL LEVEL GYMNASTICS MEET
The Junior Olympic Blackjack Meet was held in Las Vegas February 2-6. The meet is held annually in Las Vegas in conjunction with the Men’s National Gymnastics Winter Cup Team selection. Male gymnasts of all ages from all over the country compete at this prestigious venue. Golden High School sophomore, Joshua Grauke, finished seventh all-around out of 110 athletes in the Class 10, 14-15 year old age group. Joshua competed in all six men’s events taking 3rd on pommel horse and high bar, 4th on vault, 8th on floor and 12th on parallel bars.
Joshua has been involved in gymnastics since he was 2 ½ years old. He began competing in 1997, as a 6 year old, and has been the Colorado Men’s Gymnastics Champion in his age group for the last four out of five years. Joshua’s coach is Vladimir Artemev, the father of Alexander (Shasha) Artemev. Shasha is a member of the 2006 U.S. Senior Men’s Team. Joshua trains at 5280 Gymnastics in Wheat Ridge, CO.
