Contributed by: Lorie Simon on 7/12/2006

They were all wet anyway, so what's a little rain?
It didn't stop Golden and Wheat Ridge from swimming it out in a meet at the SPLASH in Golden on July 8.

"Our rain-soaked meet with Wheat Ridge was a true test of endurance. We stuck it out and had some really good swims," said Golden Marlins Head Coach Brian Reed.

In the end, the Marlins came out on top: 1,333 points to Wheat Ridge's 639.

Some of the Marlins' "biggest losers" (swimmers who dropped five seconds or more off their fastest times) were: Jack Anderson, Jonathan Clark, Libby Clark, Eric Eberhard, Lucas Fox, Nick Greivel, Chris Huff, Avery Hughes, Grace Lake, JuJu Lucena, Eric Maruyama, Julie McKenna, Sasha Moreland, Caitlin Nestler,Nikki Paris, Megan Paulman, Aslan Rockley, Willy Scarbro, Jared Schwartz, Christy Spring,Mason Valentine and Molly Walsh.

The biggest Marlins loser for this meet was Elija Valdez.
Elija dropped 8.4 seconds in her 50-free, 4.75 seconds in her 50 backstroke, and nearly 10 seconds in her 100 freestyle.

The Marlins face Applewood Athletic and the Stingrays July 15 at the SPLASH.
