The Golden Elks Lodge is sponsoring a Hoop Shoot Dec. 2 and Mitchell Elementary School in Golden. The event is held for boys and girls ages 8 through 13. Registration takes place at 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and shooting begins at 10 a.m. The three age groups are 8 to 9 years, 10 to 11 years and 12 to 13 years. After the shoot, pizza and awards will be given.
The event is sponsored by Golden Elks Lodge at 50th and Easley Road in Golden. Mitchell Elementary School is at 901 Rubey Drive in Golden. For more information, contact Lodge Chairman, Rodd Blatter at 303-432-7653.
Blatter said "The Elks have been doing this for more than 50 years. It is a path for some kids to get scholarships as they win and proceed to the next levels. At the national level, there is an opportunity to win a $25,000 scholarship."
