When I was in journalism school, I didn't think I'd ever get paid to surf the Internet. And now look: I read everything that's posted on YourHub.com, and put my favorite submissions in my personal blog, and my favorite bloggers on this page. There are two ways to get your blog on this list: You can e-mail me and try to convince me your blog is entertaining, well-written or thought-provoking, or you can mail a box of chocolates to my mother. Every weekday, I'll comb YourHub.com and post a blog about what I think you should read.

William Boucher is a funny man who likes to write blogs. He also likes to read blogs. In fact, the comments he leaves on other people's YourHub.com blogs are almost, if not as funny, as some of the blogs he posts. He's our man up in the northeast metro area, providing a little balance and showing that not all the good bloggers here come from Douglas County, or Parker, for that matter. You will laugh. I quote: "I am deceptively handsome for someone who is significantly overweight."

Karin Malchow, of Lone Tree, is one of the funniest people ever to grace YourHub.com with her interpretations of city council meetings, the trials of raising children and whether or not Lone Tree should allow strip clubs within city limits. After a little prodding, she finally started a blog, Suburban Dementia, filled with social commentary that will make you think a little bit and laugh a lot.

Joe McDaniel, Parker

Joe McDaniel is the type of guy YourHub.com was created for. He takes photos all over his community (and not just of his grandkids), writes interesting and entertaining stories and can Photoshop a street sign like no one else. And he claims to be addicted to blogging. Check out his writing in Average Joe. Not.

Barbara Neff, Castle Rock

Barbara Neff is an interesting lady with a lot of ideas on education, pet owners, exercise, and about 85 other topics. She's also a great writer who has posted tons of stories and blog entries on our Castle Rock site from the time it was barely four months old. So why wasn't she on this list? Got me. I smacked myself in the forehead one day and finally put her up here. I believe Barbara was also the first YourHub.com user to use the word "wedgie" in a headline.

Gladys Mercier, Arvada

Sometimes people think technology is moving ahead too fast, so they just ignore it and keep on with their daily lives. Gladys Mercier is not one of these people. Her blog, 77 Year Young Computer Lover, shows everyone that the "I'm 77 years old, son, I'm not gonna learn how to use YourHub.com" excuse isn't a very good one. Gladys has some good stories to tell, and they'll probably make you wonder why you like reading about other people's great-grandchildren so much.

Nikki is the mother of a 6-year-old and 7-month old identical twins. Also, she has an Australian shepherd, a cat a fish and a bird. She loves Vegas and she likes to write in her blog, My Life Amongst the Y-Chromosomes. I believe the phrase is "time management."

Jared Keller, of Littleton, is YourHub.com's own I Love the 80s, except he's more entertaining, way more funny, and isn't interrupted every five minutes by a commercial. He also writes regular columns about his life as a suburban family man and posts them on the Littleton and Denver South sites.

Mick is an outdoorsman, owner of a tree and landscape company and a dog named Lucky, and has a knack for catching outdoor vistas on his camera. If there are other people out there who know how to drive a snowplow and can write as well as Michael, I'd like to meet them. Check out his blog for a look at some of the important issues and great views in Douglas County.

Brian Olson is a prolific blogger, former Texan, entrepreneur, grandfather and NASCAR fan who's done a lot of cool things. He claims to be slightly right of center politically and is on top of the news. Sometimes I just read his blog if I find the normal news sources to be too indigestible.

Sara has three boys, three new businesses and just one blog (at least we think so) here at YourHub.com. She's claimed to not be a blogger, but a couple dozen blog entires say otherwise. She writes about motherhood, kids and owning businesses on her blog. Entrepreneur vs. Mommyworld.

I think Sarah's our first blogger from Englewood, and she's got a unique point of view. Her blogs, which she claims are just "opinions from the perspective of a single, Italian woman over forty," have titles like "What men think when they see us naked" and "Why do women stop shaving after marriage?"

Sometimes he's a guy who wants to anger "liberals," sometimes he's a guy who isn't scared to be a Baltimore Ravens fan even though he lives a couple miles from Invesco Field, and sometimes he's just a dad, a husband and an inexperienced gardener. Right now, he's our blogger in the military, deploying to Baghdad and letting us know how he's doing whenever he gets a chance to use a computer.

Mike is our regular Joe wine expert. I love this guy's writing and I don't even drink. Quote: "My goal is to share honest, non-snooty, advice on wine as if you were talking to your next door neighbor and he said, 'Hey maaaan, last night, me and the old lady, we had a really nice bottle of wine, I totally would recommend it.'" Chris and his wife, in their 40s, are the new parents of three adopted siblings, all under the age of five. Talk about bravery. He's started a blog, Father knows ... something. I'll be straight with you. We don't know what sex this dog is. All we know is that it's our mascot, it appears on the calendar in our print editions every week, and it spends a lot of time surfing the Internet looking for bizarre and funny stories, video clips and photos. Reading Dot's blog will make you wonder if humans are really making any progress, or if certain members of our species are just destined to keep getting caught doing stupid stuff. And, it's objective, because it's written by a dog.

But you know she was reading everyone else's blogs, much like those creepy people who go to dog parks and hang out even though they don't have dogs. (Dogophiles? Blogophiles?) There's always something interesting and Denver-centric on her blog, "North Denver Doorbell" (which is a much better choice for a title than "North Denver Doorknob"). And she's the head honcho around here now, so maybe you can score some points with her if you become a groupie on her blog...
