I hope to write about anything and everything that comes into my mind, as long as it is in good taste. I hope to communicate effectively and stimulate thought and conversation. I can't wait to get started!

What happened in Vegas REALLY never happened
Contributed by: Erin Di Paolo   on 1/27/2008

I love Las Vegas. Fortunately for me, I work for Frontier Airlines, so I get to visit frequently. Recently I traveled to Sin City for my fourth trip in a year and a half (a bit excessive, I know, but that's what Vegas is all about, isn't it)?

Since Vegas is known for its "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" slogan, this trip was particularly notable for the fact that nothing sinful happened on this trip. Why? Because two of my three kids accompanied me on this journey.

I want to say upfront that I was one of those people who said they wouldnever take their kids to Vegas, at least not before their 2st birthday. So when I found out that Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana were appearing at the MGM Grand and I owed my daughter, Allie, a special treat, with much fear and trepidation I bought tickets and began to plan our trip. My 13-year-old son, James, decided he would like to tag along, though he opted out of attending the concert with us.

Though I expected much judgment when telling people I was taking my kids to Vegas, I received none (at least not to my face). And though I was not sure how they would fare, they did better than expected. At least they were wise enough to pack tennis shoes.

One of the highlights of the trip, of course, was the concert itself which is good because that was the main reason we took the trip. It was standing room only at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. As soon as Hannah took the stage, I was in tears, not because I was so moved to see the star, but thrilled that I could make one of my daughter's dreams come true. I hoped in that moment that she realized just how blessed she was. Not every little girl, after all, gets to travel to another state to see Hannah in concert. For my part, I was reminded how blessed I am to work at Frontier.

My kids and I spent countless hours walking around Vegas. We shopped, visited Ghirardelli for hot fudge sundaes, went to Mandalay Bay's shark reef, rode the monorail and even met the infamous baseball player Pete Rose (a highlight for me). James and Allie even got to experience the joy of trying their first Las Vegas buffet. My son marveled at the fact that we could walk into any hotel, whenever we wanted, since we can't do that in Denver -- or anywhere else for that matter. Come to think of it, that is a really cool thing. And believe me, we were in and out of more hotels than I can count!

Needless to say, my children, unfortunately, loved Las Vegas and are already asking when we can return.

I can't say when they will be returning, but in two weeks a friend and I are going back. I don't know how that trip will go, but I can guarantee one thing: what happens on that trip will indeed stay there.
