Whereas many fathers and sons spend Father's Day playing golf together, Bryan Austin will spend this year's holiday playing in honor of his father. This past year, Bryan's father, Don lost his battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Bryan, the 2006 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Man of the Year will continue his father's legacy by participating in the 2008 LLS Golf Classic and Tee-Off Celebration. Participation in the 2008 LLS Golf Classic at Morrison's Red Rocks Country Club raises funds for a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease and myeloma as well as for support for patients and their families.
Last year, Don served as committee chair for the event. This year's Classic will include a Don Austin Memorial Hole with his fiery, red Corvette and a keg of Coors' Belgian brew, Blue Moon parked beside it. In addition to being a board member of the non-profit's Rocky Mountain chapter, Don was an active member of Red Rocks Country Club. Bryan is honored to celebrate his father's relentless support and dedication to the LLS mission.
The Sunday, June 15 (Father's Day) Tee-Off Celebration will take place at the Pepsi Center at the Lexus Club Sunday at 6:00 p.m. and will include auction items such as a trip to Pebble Beach to play in the Lexus Championship for Charity Golf Tournament. The Monday, June 16 "Classic" includes 18 holes of golf, lunch and an awards ceremony. Registration for the Classic begins at 7:30 a.m. with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
Shout "fore" to cancer by registering for the Tee-Off Celebration, joining a foursome, sponsoring a team, or making a contribution by contacting Melissa Nicewarner at 303-984-2110, ext. *814 or at
