Let's do lunch! The Women's Crisis & Family Outreach Center cordially invites you to join us at the most fashionable event of the year - the 10th Annual Ladies Luncheon -- to be held at the beautifully scenic and historically fascinating Cherokee Ranch & Castle. As a hostess, you will be able to bring up to nine guests and join us for a truly uplifting experience on the veranda, with a delicious catered lunch from Flying Horse, a Chico's fashion show and live entertainment, and NEW THIS YEAR, a shopping extravaganza with over a dozen unique vendors as you tour the Castle. From fresh flowers to English pottery, chocolate to jewelry, candles to lingerie, and gourmet food baskets to antique home décor, this will be an experience you won't quickly forget.
Not only will it be a lovely afternoon with food, friends, and fun, but it is a chance for the people of this community to join together for a greater cause.
In the United States, a woman is beaten by her partner every 12 seconds. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women, more than mugging, stranger rape, and car accidents combined. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, one in four women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime. Furthermore, children who witness domestic violence are more likely to exhibit significant behavioral and physical health problems. According to recent research, 95% of boys and 72% of girls witnessing domestic violence will carry abuse into their adult relationships, either as victims or perpetrators.
Closer to home, the Women's Crisis & Family Outreach Center continues to dispel the
myths that domestic violence only occurs in the inner cities, among the poor and people of color. At last tabulation, Douglas County Sheriff's office alone recorded almost 800 reported cases of domestic violence and the county represented 10% of all deaths related to domestic violence for the entire state. All along the front range of Colorado domestic violence is the number one crime (other than traffic offenses).
Please join us on June 20, 11 am to 3 pm, at the Cherokee Ranch & Castle near Sedalia, Colorado. Together, we can provide the immediate and long-term support for these victims and raise the vital funds necessary to stop the cycle of violence in our homes, in our schools, and in our communities.
