Aurora Public Library joins eco-friendly movement
Contributed by: Christina Villa on 6/4/2008

AURORA, Colo. -The Aurora Public Library has joined in the effort to help the environment by offering patrons ways to decrease their carbon footprints through reusable book bags, book recycling and online services that reduce the need to drive to the library.

The Aurora Public Library is offering distinctive new book bags, made from recycled content, to help eliminate the use of plastic bags. The bags can be reused and are sturdy enough to carry groceries and other items as well.

The Aurora Public Library also encourages patrons to recycle their books by bringing gently used or unwanted books to any Aurora Public Library. The effort will eliminate waste and help support the Friends of the Aurora Public Library.

Online services on the Aurora Public Library's Web site also help reduce the need to drive to a library by offering the convenience of library services right at home. Visitors to the Web site can log on at www.auroralibrary.org and download e-books or find reference materials like magazines and newspapers. Children can hear stories and view pictures online using the Kids Online page, and families can access movies and TV shows using the free MyLibraryDV player. All of the services are free and available for access 24/7 with an Aurora Public Library card.
