So you have all heard about the "Issues" facing the Green Valley Ranch Metro District and then newly elected board members. It's not surprising that they are again making headlines in a not so positive light!
Word has trickled down that the newly elected board members and one other board member (The always wavering
Michael George)are making last minute preparations to CANCEL the Community Center that the previous board had worked so hard to find "NON" Tax dollars to fund.
Their excuse, "We can't seem to find the funding for it now..."
Which to this resident seems kind of odd, since in the last year's budget you can clearly see a surplus, and it would make logical sense that this surplus, which CAN"T be used to pay the bonds off early, and CAN"T be put into a rebate check to the home owners due to the legality of who was the home owner at the time, would ONLY MAKE SENSE to build something good for the community, but alas the new board with their wavering old board member find it not in the interest of the community.
The other ODD issue being noticed is, unlike other administrations that take office (
Gov. Ritter taking over from
Gov. Owens,
President Bush taking over from
President Clinton) who sit down and discuss the issue, get up to speed, and take in ALL the info - This new GVR Metro Administration has NOT taken the offer of help from the previous administration, and have elected to do it themselves. I find this both odd and un-professional behavior!
So as a community, let's REMIND them who this money belongs too, and while we are doing that, let's also remind them that we as the community are TIRED of the in-fighting between two factions. This new board has had at least 3 meetings on just the community center, but I have YET to see a meeting about keeping the common areas GREEN, nor have I seen a meeting on how they are going to start policing the neighborhood and fulfilling their end of the contract with the GVR HOA. In fact, they have held meetings on how to lose our money in a silly attempt to cancel a project that has already gone forward and needs to continue that way!
JUST BUILD THE DARN BUILDING, if need be sell it and move on! I can tell you from other experiences, there are community centers that are both self-sufficient and add value to a community, and you can not prove otherwise!
So the next time you are upset with your neighbor not having green grass, or the common areas looking like garbage - remember the Green Valley Ranch Metro District and how they decided that the more IMPORTANT fight, was to cancel something that already had funding...
If you are tired of this fighting and you want to see change, then I suggest attending the meeting that is rumored to be planned for July 9th at 6:30pm - Located at the GVRBuilding on 45th ave near Tower Road! Let them know that they need to stop with the issue on the community center, and start with keeping the common areas (Like Himalaya and Green Valley Ranch Blvd) GREEN and Weed Free... They need to start doing what the GVR HOA contracted them to do with community enforcement and covenant violation letters!
