Schumer lies to cover lies
Contributed by: Kim Tran on 7/23/2008

At the last GVR Board meeting, Mary Schumer claimed that the State Board of Accountancy had "cleared her name" of all charges but in fact, they have not even met on her case yet.

Contact them and find out for yourself!

Ms. Schumer lied to get elected to the GVR Board of Directors. She claimed to be a CPA, when she was not. Now she is lying again to cover this blunder. She, quite literally, shouted at an HOA meeting last October that she was a CPA. She claimed to be a CPA at the first Board meeting she attended as a Board member, as well.

NOW she says she is NOT a CPA, and the State Board of Accountancy has forgiven her. Unlikely. They are serious about their profession.

Usually, when people lie about their credentials, they get fired. Why hasn't the President of the Board asked for Ms. Schumer's resignation? Why hasn't the rest of the Board?

Because they have an agenda. THEY want the property that the new Community Center is being built upon. It adjoins the property of one the Board members, Anthony Noble, and of their campaign manager, Elaine Smith.

The Board is willing to sacrifice OUR TWO MILLION dollars so that they can purchase that land at a bargain price. The residents of GVR should be outraged.

Please, come to the special Board meeting Thursday evening (July 24th) to see for yourself. They will find out that it will cost TWO MILLION dollars to cancel the project, yet they will cancel it anyway. Remember why?

A recall election is in order. We need a whole new Board.

This is not an issue about bonding - This has become an issue of why the Current board feels it necessary to stop a project that previous boards have already started and put deposits/money down for. Previous boards have voted for this project so it's not a matter of a renegade person making decisions. As for the fiduciary duty, they have done things according to Colorado Law, and for the majority of GVR Residents they are fulfilling their Fiduciary duties - The questions are about the current board and their reasoning about cancel a project that has been already started and not consider the amount of money they will lose when stopping this project.

Aren't the Board Members bonded? If they would conduct business that is not in the interest of the taxpayers are we not insured to protect us from this? Don’t we have laws and insurance to make sure their fiduciary responsibilities are carried out? or am I the naive one?

It cost so much to cancel the project because of penalties from contractors, who must protect themselves from abuse. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have already been spent on the project, too, which would be forfeited, naturally, as the project has been underway for quite some time.
