The City of Aurora is signing up players now for its fall basketball recreation and prep leagues.
The Recreation Division leagues for boys in grades 2 to 12 and girls in grades 2 to 8 are designed for players looking for some fun on the court in a recreational league setting.
The deadline for guaranteed placement on teams is Oct. 13. Registrations after Oct. 13 are not guaranteed placement and may be put on a waiting list.
The eight-game season (10 games for grades 7 and 8) begins in December. The cost, depending on grade level, ranges from $48 to $65 for Aurora residents and from $62 to $85 for non-residents.
Returning players should contact their coach to be added to the roster. New players or players who wish to change teams from last season should call the City of Aurora's Registration Office at 303-326-8650.
For a second year, the City of Aurora also is offering a Prep League designed for the higher-skilled player. Teams are formed exclusively by coaches, and rosters must be submitted to the Aurora Sports Office by Oct. 13.
The Prep League for boys and girls is designed to enhance the common rivalries of participants based on where they attend school. Team rosters are formed based on where players feed into either middle school or high school, depending on grade level. The Prep League uses the same uniform colors and share the mascot name of the high school they will most likely attend.
Youth who are not already on a Prep League team may call the Aurora Sports Office at 303-326-8700 to be placed on a Free Agent list for the Prep League or sign up separately for the Recreation Division League. Free agents may be placed on a Prep League team upon a coach's request, and placements are not guaranteed.
The eight-game season (10 games for grades 7 and 8) begins in December. The cost, depending on grade level, ranges from $54 to $65 for Aurora residents and from $70 to $85 for non-residents.
For more information on either league, call the City of Aurora's Sports Office at 303-326-8700 or visit www.auroragov.org/recreation.
