Spring is almost here and we have plenty of great activities for our youth in the Montbello and Green Valley Ranch community. Saturday, March 15th, Montbello High School Head Baseball Coach, Brian Sanders will work with our kids and work on developing solid baseball skills and technique. Coach Sanders, Montbello H.S. coaches are dedicated towards giving back to the community and working with our future generation of student athletes as they prepare for the 2008 baseball season.
Saturday, March 29, 2008 Coach David Carey will lead in teaching basketball drills for young men and women in middle school as well as high school players. The purpose of the "A&B High School Skills Development Clinic" is to focus on the fundamentals of basketball (defense, dribbling, shooting and rebounding). Participants will be taught basketball terminology and technique. We will teach the basic understanding of man-to-man, zone and press offense and defensive responsibility. Sportsmanship, life skills and career options is the second phase that will be addressed.
The clinic will be conducted by Coach David Carey (Montbello H.S.), Coach Rudy Carey (East H.S.), Nikkie Weddle, Wayne Carter, Rodney Billups, Denver Nuggets Community Ambassador, Mark Randle and various high school coaches. Denver University will be on hand to talk to participants about requirements to be eligible to attend a division one college along with Kim Davis, who will talk about her career in sports retail.
The A&B All Stars, converted football players, now playing basketball will start their bid to defend their 2007 Hoopin For Hickenlooper Basketball Championship this Sunday at the Stapleton Recreation Center. We will keep you informed on how their season in the recreation league ends as they prepare for Spring competivite basketball.
