Take a trip back 100 years ago to the days of old-time narrow gauge steam locomotives with a trip on the Georgetown Loop Railroad in August.

The Aurora History Museum is offering the day excursion to Georgetown and a trip on the railroad from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 18.

The Georgetown Loop Railroad features a railroad ride through the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and past the remains of several gold and silver mines, with open cars allowing an unobstructed view of everything along the line.

During the day, visitors also will have time to shop and tour Georgetown, see the Georgetown-Silver Plume National Historic Landmark District and the Georgetown Loop Historic Mining & Railroad Park, and more.

The cost is $72 ($59 for Aurora residents), and the fee includes van transportation from the Aurora History Museum to Georgetown, along with railroad excursion tickets.
