California wines

Cali Wines....

Well, all those fires in that western state will have an affect on this 2008 vintage. Not much talk about it right now but when barrel tastings happen the critics will notice.

The grapes are so sensitive that they pick up everything around them. Example: Olive tress are very popular element in vineyards. It can be very prevelant on the nose, typically in the red wines. Next time you smell or taste that in a wine go to that particular winery's website and you may find that they sell olive oil. There you go...That is where the smell of olives is coming from...the tress next to the vineyards....kinda cool. Mother nature is pretty amazing.

So yes the fires will have an affect on some of thewines and that smoke will be a small element in some wines coming from the affected areas. We won't know for 2 or 3 years but maybe you reading this simple blog will help you recognize that fire smoke when you open a 2008 Cabernet 3-5 years from now.

For now pick up a bottle of Panacea Napa Cabernet 2005
( http://www.panaceawine.com/) and get ready to be wowed by this $20 dollar wine....90Pts and it is showing very well. hint of cedar and whole lot of balance and love...Enjoy and Raise a Glass to Good Health!!!

Thanks
