Blog Entry 31 of 100 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

Getting my Christmas wish
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com   on 1/2/2007

The beginning of December I blogged about wanting a digital camera for Christmas. Sadly, I did not get it on that day, although I got lots of cool new clothes and food.

The thought of a shiny new toy still hung in the back of my mind, so I promised myself to start saving my money now so I can get it as a birthday present to myself come Feb. 18.

Damon and I spent the afternoon of Dec. 31 looking at the pre-New Year's deals at Park Meadows Mall with his mom, Cami. I mentioned to her how I wanted a digital camera and my plan to save money for it.

Later on that night, we had a New Year's dinner with Cami and her husband, Mickey. She told me, "I have something for you" and gave me this neatly wrapped package. Eagerly, I tore at the brightly-colored paper and lo and behold! It was a Nikon Coolpix L4. I cried from joy. I couldn't believe it!

Damon said she had called him a couple weeks ago and asked him what I wanted for Christmas. I laughed at how just a few hours before I was babbling to her about my birthday plan.

This was certainly a wonderful gift because I can also use it for work and not just for my own photos. Before, I had used my cell phone to capture spontaneous events, and the photo quality was not that great. Now, I am confident that I will be able to photograph breaking news if and when it's happening near me. And I will be able to show you photos of the good times and vacations right here in my blog.

Thanks, Cami, for the camera. I love it!

Having your own camera is extremely liberating, don't you think? Now you can start a Flickr account, right?
