CBS4 EXPANDED LOCAL COVERAGE

CBS4, KCNC-TV-Denver, announced today that it will be on the air with Anchors Jim Benemann and Karen Leigh live during prime time on KBDI-TV 12 during the Democratic National Convention, providing the only local television coverage in prime time, from 7-9:30 p.m. each night.

CBS4 kicks off nearly 40 hours of local news coverage on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2008 at 9 p.m. with a half hour special, The Denver Convention, a show that will give viewers the inside scoop on how the convention affects people in Colorado - including what roads will be blocked and how to get around town, activities for families interested in participating in the convention, and where to spot celebrities. This show will repeat at 11:25 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 23, 2008.

Week-long coverage begins Aug. 24, 2008 with anchors Jim Benemann and Karen Leigh reporting live from the PepsiCenter on CBS4 News at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Then on Monday, the premiere of The Denver Convention, a nightly half hour CBS4 special that airs Monday - Thursday at 6:30 p.m. followed by nightly prime time coverage on KBDI Channel 12 from 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. with CBS4 Anchors Jim Benemann and Karen Leigh. CBS4 News at 10 p.m. will follow each evening with expanded one hour in-depth coverage of the convention from 10 p.m. - 11 p.m. In addition, CBS4 will provide live streaming web coverage as well as a continuously updated blog on www.cbs4denver.com from the PepsiCenter and Invesco field.

"We're excited to announce that CBS4 will be the only local station to offer prime time coverage of DNC floor activity," CBS4 News Director Tim Wieland said. "Our daily special programs will keep Colorado viewers up-to-date on all DNC activities. We have a dedicated web-only reporter and photographer assigned to the DNC. We're also asking our viewers to get directly involved in our expanded coverage by submitting questions to Alan Gionet for his nightly Good Question segment and sending photos of their DNC experiences to our You Report section on www.cbs4denver.com. Viewer photos will air on CBS4 News each evening."

All CBS4 newscasts will be broadcast live during the DNC from the PepsiCenter or Invesco Field. CBS4 will also broadcast live from Larimer Square on the roof of the Tamayo Restaurant and the station will partner with CBS News to bring viewers unprecedented coverage of the DNC with one-on-one segments with Katie Couric, Harry Smith, Bob Schieffer and Jeff Greenfield.

On Thursday, Aug. 27, 2008, CBS4 will offer prime time coverage on KBDI-TV 12 from 7-9:30 p.m., special prime time coverage on CBS4 following Obama's speech and a one hour CBS4 News at 10 p.m. newscast.
