Over 630 Backpack's Collected by McCormick's
Contributed by: Joyce Reilly on 8/22/2008

The McCormick & Schmick's 5 th Annual Backpack Drive to aid students in the Denver Public Schools was a resounding success thanks to the generosity and spirit of the local community. McCormick's Fish House and Bar in lower downtown and McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant in the Denver Tech Center requested help from the community in giving students a fresh, new start to the school year. The response was overwhelming. Over 630 Brand New, Full Sized, Backpacks were donated as well as dozens of boxes of school supplies!

The recipients of this heartwarming community outreach were Whittier K-8 School and the DPS Educational Outreach Program. On Tuesday, August 19 th each child at Whittier received a backpack as well as supplies. The additional backpacks will be handed out to children who enroll in the school during the year, and also to other children in need throughout the district.

"We send out our sincere thanks to the community and our loyal customers who participated in this project. We also extend our thanks to Seattle Fish Company and Rocky Mountain Business Products whose generous donations provided for additional backpacks and supplies", said General Manger Julie Muise.
