Former Denver Broncos captain and All-Pro Karl Mecklenburg will share both humorous and inspirational stories of his life in the NFL at Christian Living Communities 15th Annual Earthen Vessel Dinner on October 9th. Mecklenburg rose from being a college walk-on and a 12th round draft pick to a pro career that included six Pro Bowl and three Super Bowl appearances. Considered the NFL's most versatile player, Karl played all seven defensive front positions. There were many games where Mecklenburg played all seven positions in the course of a single game.
Since retiring from pro football in 1995, Mecklenburg divides his time between family, speaking engagements and his ongoing charity involvements. In 2001 Mecklenburg was inducted into the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame and the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame. He also serves on the Broncos Alumni Council.
Christian Living Communities Earthen Vessel Dinner will also recognize long-time volunteers, "Clix" and Alyce Meines, Littleton residents. Proceeds from this year's dinner will benefit the redevelopment of Christian Living Communities first location, recently re-named
Clermont Park, located near Yale and South Colorado Boulevard in Denver.
Christian Living Communities is a not-for-profit provider of care and services to seniors with retirement communities in Denver and Centennial, and in-home and adult day service programs.
The dinner will be held at the Marriott Denver South at Park Meadows. For ticket information, please call Christian Living Communities at 720.974.3555.
