Six partners who together offer a career pathway for teachers will present their teacher education programs during a seminar on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 6:30 through 8:30 p.m. at the University Center at Chaparral,15653 Brookstone Dr. This unique blend of partners provides coursework at UCC encompassing high school through graduate studies.
During the event, each partner will present an overview of their program. Following the presentations, time will be allotted to meet individually with representatives of these institutions.
"We invite you to meet the six educational partners that support the Teacher Education Career Pathways at UCC," said UCC Director Linda Whitehouse. "Students interested in becoming teachers will be able to talk with representatives from Arapahoe Community College and Adams State College. These providers supply education courses at University Center at Chaparral, located in the southeast Metro area. Current teachers seeking information about local master's degree programs may also talk with representatives from Lesley University, Colorado Christian University and University of Colorado Denver."
The six partners are Douglas County Schools, Arapahoe Community College, Adams State College, Colorado Christian University, Lesley University and the University of Colorado Denver.
The Douglas County School District offers Early Childhood and Teacher Cadet programs in local high schools, student teacher placement in Douglas County Schools and professional development training. Arapahoe Community College offers certificate and associate degree options in early childhood education and elementary education. Adams State College offers a bachelor's degree in elementary education with licensure and a bachelor's degree in elementary education with an early childhood education endorsement.
Colorado Christian University offers a master's degree in curriculum and instruction with an optional emphasis track in Instructional Technology. Lesley University offers master's degrees in elementary education, technology in education, integrated teaching through the arts and literacy: language, reading and writing. The University of Colorado Denver offers a master's degree in political science with an emphasis in politics and public policy - excellent for secondary teachers in the social sciences.
