"Tables Extraordinaire" holiday event
Contributed by: Valerie Ranahosseini on 11/24/2007

9th annual "Tables Extraordinaire" is an opulent and truly fabulous presentation of holiday table settings. We invite you to preview over 40 breathtaking and divinely decorated holiday tables. Strolling through this winter wonderland has inspired many to take the themes and ideas home for their holiday entertaining. Table themes range from familiar and exotic travel locations to glamorous place setting to traditional holiday favorites.Table viewing will take place at Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 5555 South Yosemite Street, Greenwood Village, on Friday, December 7, 9am - 9pm and Saturday, December 8, 9am - 3:30pm. Admission to the talbe-viewing event is $10, including coffee and Greek pastries.

GREEK PASTRIES WILL ALSO BE SOLD.

This event is being hosted by the Ladies Philoptochos Society of Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church. "Philoptochos" literally translated means "friends of the poor". Our chapter in Greenwood Village is one of 500 chapters of National Philoptochos, which was established in 1931as the Philoptochos Ladies Society of the Greek Orthodox Church. With 28,000 members, it is the largest philanthropic women's christian organization in the world. Annually, donations by the national organization to charitable causes on the local level, nationally, and internationally, exceed $1.5 million dollars.

The revenue generated by this event underwrites the many local and national philanthropic projects undertaken by this chapter. Our latest local project is "Bags for the Homeless". Over 500 bags have been distributed to Denver's homeless. Each bag filled with a winter coat, blanket, socks, gloves, hat, T-shirt, fast food gift cards, nonperishable food items and personal care products. Our goal is to distribute another 500 bags by the end of January.Another project was the renovation of Champa House, a part of the Denver Rescue Mission. Champa House is a nine-unit transitional housing facility for single mothers and their children desiring self-sufficiency. This two-year project was completed by our chapter with the help ofour Philoptochos sisters from the Assumption Greek Orthodox Metropolis Cathedral Denver.

"Tables Extraordinaire" is an incredible holiday event! Please join us, bring your friends, nieghbors, book club, ladies groups etc.
