Mile High Rowing Club powered their way to over 30 medals at the 26th annual Head of the Des Moines Regatta - one of the largest regattas in the Midwest.Head Coach Grace Malacrida with Mile High Rowing Club was incredibly proud and impressed with the team."Every single member took home at least one medal.It was amazing and exceeded my wildest expectations." Racers competed in eight-person shells, four-person shells, doubles, pairs, and singles.
About 600 rowers from 9 states raced 2.85 miles (4.58 km) up the Des Moines River competing in about 80 races through the day.Entries include events for juniors, masters, collegiate, and club scullers and sweep rowers.
Mile High Rowing Club is now preparing for the Wichita Frostbite Regatta in November. The team will start their indoor winter program on rowing machines November 16th. Erging is a great way to get in shape for any spring season sport as well as work on a time to post for college recruiting.Rowers will be back on the water in March as soon as water temperatures allow.
