Cherry Creek captures crown
Contributed by: Brendan Harrington/YourHub.com on 5/22/2006

Bruinsupset East for second consecutive state title

Last week, the girls did it. Now it was the boys' turn.

The Cherry Creek Bruins upset the Denver East Angels on May 20 to capture the boy's lacrosse title at Invesco Field. After getting off to a slow start, the Bruins shelled East with a four-goal second quarter, going on to win 6-2.

Creek managed to stifle a powerful East offense, led by the outstanding play of junior goaltender Mark Stone.

With the victory, Cherry Creek High School completes a sweep of the state lacrosse titles, keeping the crown for the boys and regaining it for the girls with their win over Kent Denver.
