In a thrilling match played Sunday, May 14th at the Gates Soccer fields, the Colorado Storm Royal U12 Boys soccer team defeated the Colorado Rush Nike U12 Boys soccer team. Storm took the lead 1 to 0 in the first half on a penalty kick situation. The PK was earned by
Nick Saunders
as he was taken down in the box by the Rush goalie.
Nick Gauna
took the penalty kick and it was blocked by the Rush goalie but the rebound came back to Nick and he placed the ball into the back of the net. Rush battled back in the scond half to tie the game on a run down the left side of the field where the Rush player carried the ball past the Storm defense and finished with a powerful shot.
The pace of play was unbelievable from both teams. Storm scored the go ahead goal on a run down the right side of the field by Nick Gauna where Nick made a perfect crossing pass that went just beyond the finger tips of the diving Rush goalie to
Andrew Sierra
who finished the play.
Storm will play in the U12 Boys State Cup final this Sunday against Arsenal Gold at 9:30 AM on Gates #4.
