Oct. 26 Web host: Those Canadians are so polite
Contributed by: YourHub.com on 10/12/2006

Good morning,

In order to keep their department more gender-neutral, a British Columbia fire department is spending more than $14,000 to keep the firefighters in boxer shorts. It seems firefighters have to strip down to their undies to don their protective gear, and I guess someone was offended by the sight of some tighty-whities -- can you blame them. Each firefighter will receive six pairs of boxers. I wonder if they're silk?

Anyway, I'm Kevin Hamm, a community journalist at YourHub.com I'm live on the site today and available to help you post something and answer any questions you might have. You can e-mail me at hammk@YourHub.com or call me at 303-954-5315.

‘DIRTY HANDS’ When leaders pursue group goals by treating followers in ways generally thought to be morally wrong they are said to “have dirty hands.” The public official cannot wait for discussion, and since others may not agree, indeed may not understand what is being proposed, the official finds it necessary sometimes to resort to manipulation, deception, even coercion for the “public good.” Despite whatever good might have been achieved for the group as a whole. Leaders should adhere to standard parliamentary procedures, and have full justification for their business when they do so.
