I want to talk about milestones.
Here at
YourHub.com, we are always looking to publicize everyone's achievements, big or small. Personally, I don't think I could ever have enough milestones on this Web site from readers like you.
"What exactly are you looking for in milestone,
Steve?" you might ask.
That's a good question. A milestone generally is any kind of achievement, award, promotion or highlight in anybody's life -- even birthdays are milestones. Here are a few theoretical examples of milestones we're looking for:
*
Bobby just got his driver's license today
*Your toddler just said his/her first word, and it wasn't mommy or daddy
*
Susie led the high school basketball team to another victory
*Your brother just received a promotion at YourHub.com
*Your 12-year-old just was awarded Top Student of the Month
*You gave up being a professional journalist for pursuing your dream of being in a rock and roll band
*Your geography teacher was honored for his/her excellent teaching strategies
*Your band,
Chocolate Dinosaurs, won first place at the battle of the bands
*Your mom won the Best Mother in the Whole Wide World award
*You just inherited $4.7 billion and bought an island of the coast of Australia
OK you get the point, which leads me to my point: I know there are plenty of smart and intelligent people out there in Douglas County, so let's hear about it. Whether the milestone is about you, your family, your friends or your neighbors, share it on YourHub.com. Before you post your milestones on YourHub.com, you must
register on the site.
Here are two guidelines:
1) In your text description, be sure to include what journalists refer to as the 5 Ws -- Who claims this glorious milestone? What was that glorious milestone? Where did this person achieve this glory? When did it occur? Why is the milestone special to that person? And don't forget the H -- How did you win the Lotto? Be as descriptive as you'd like.
2) Include a photo of the person. Generally, what we call a "mug shot" will suffice -- a simple head-and-shoulders photo of the individual. But if you post a photo of
Jimmy and the rest of the football team, that's great.
Please call me at 303-954-2617 or
e-mail me if you have any questions about posting your e-mails -- I am more than happy to assist you.
If you need some inspiration, here are some real milestones people posted on the site recently:

Post your own milestones here.
