Blog Entry 4 of 32 Impacting the world through media
We are a media ministry creating film, TV and radio content that is safe, cutting edge, high quality and unique. This is faith based media that rivals any secular entertainment out there. Sports content that is all the way to the top - Superbowl programming, Xtreme sports - anything from mainstream to xtreme we cover it. Our own streaming radio station, 24/7 with music, talk, sports and more - breaking the traditional mold for radio - visit www.powerplayersradio.com. Feature Films in the works - visit www.1615.tv. TV programming and video projects - visit www.1615.tv. Working with global and local ministries to provide the same quality content and programming for them - visit www.powerplayersradio.com. Reaching Hollywood and the entertainment industry for Christ from the inside out. Hosting Creative Forum and workshops to teach other creative talents how to best utilize and network their gifts - visit www.creativeforum.us. We are bold only in that God has put us forth on this mission to reclaim the entertainment industry to do good work and make a difference in this world. We feel strongly that media and the arts have the ability to reach the most people and advance the Kingdom for Jesus Christ. We are just simple people that have been given specific talents - each in their own respect, and feel they should be used to honor God. We do not boast but only in that God is in control and we are following Him - all the Glory is His as we "impact the world through media".

Can film and TV change a person?

Let me begin the right way, for the record - this is my first blog. You can critique, comment, contribute - but keeping everything on the table, read my profile first so you know I am not hiding what we do and why I would post this blog.

OK - so the question is on the table, can Film and TV change a person? We believe that it can. We believe that the entertainment industry has the ability to reach multitudes and change the world. Think about the way you might feel after a 'great' film. The way you might be inspired by a well done documentary.

Just think about this, from the TV side first; how many watch Extreme Makeover? Have you shed a tear as these families lives are forever changed from the impact of the community getting involved to make a difference? You are only moved by the quality of the show - you are moved by the fact that you saw it. Without the 'show' you wouldn't 'know'.

How many kids are running around with High School Musical 'gear' and wanting to be in drama club now?? What? When I was a kid, no one wanted to be in drama! Theater classes in communities are filling up - why? You can't walk into a store without seeing a Troy Bolton...something....anything! Kids movies have a huge impact on our culture. It starts with them, watching animated movies and all of a sudden they are recycling and saving penguins! This is great stuff - and when you see a movie about what is really happening in the world are you moved? Are you moved to action?

People see movies that tell the truth and are moved, they see movies that tell a lie and are moved - Film and TV can change a person and change the world! So where is the responsibility falling ... to be sure that it is the Truth that is protrayed, to be sure that the entertainment is safe, to be sure that we are not sending kids down but lifting them up - showing them how they can impact the world and change it.

The responsibility lies with all of us, monitoring from home and being sure that we produce this kind of safe entertainment that is good enough to bring us in. From kids to adults, we can't compromise quality, intensity and excitement - but we can do it the right way, with the right message, the right role models and the right impact! Join me...

Absolutely, film and tv can change a person, but not necessarily in a good way. Frankly, I think most media today does more harm than good, creating a nation that must constantly be entertained. While "High School Musical" may have brought more kids to drama class, it's also brought more kids' eyes to Disney, who's ultimate mission is to sell those eyes to their advertisers. While I applaud what you are trying to do, I also understand that media can become indoctrination and propaganda.

Great first blog, Ken! Thanks for sharing!
