A political pundit said most of us live life between the 40 yard lines. I'm one of them. Most of the time. Sometimes I'm right of center, sometimes the other way around.

$5 + 15% = Disaster

Lost in all the coverage of the passing of Michael Jackson today will be one of the most critical House votes in our history.

The "Climate" bill. Hurricane Katrina and 9-11 Part Deux for taxpayers.

The pitch is the legislation will "reduce our dependance" on foreign oil and "create jobs."

What crap.

For some real analysis of this disasterous legislation, read this article in the Wall Street Journal.

The votes will be tight. Not just to get the legislation passed, but to have enough votes togive certain Democrats the abiliity to vote "no" to save their political rear-ends. Rep. Betsy Markey among them.

To his credit, Democratic Rep. John Salazar who represents the district where we also live is likely to vote "no" based on principle. Ranchers and farmers will be devastated by this bill. Along with the rest of us.

If you like the idea of $5 gas and 15% unemployment this bill is for you.

If not, call your representatives and let them know, you want them to vote NO.

If John Salazar has the cojones to vote "NO", he is going to make big brother, Ken, and Ken's boss very unhappy. So far, Representative Salazar has truly represented his constituency and, indeed, all of Colorado quite well. That's hard for me to say being a (fiscally) conservative Republican but sometimes I must give credit where it's due.
