The worst of the worst descend on New York this week at the United Nations for the annual General Assembly.
Among those who come both to bury us and not praise us are Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. When not busy developing nuclear missiles, he goes about denying the Holocause and calling for the destruction off Israel. Chances are he helped pick up the tab for that yahoo local bomb-maker busted right here in the Denver area.
Then there's Libya's Qaddafi. He recently gave a hero's welcome to one of the folks who blew up that Pan-Am 747 out of the skies over Lockerbie, Scotland years back. When he's not helping blowing Americans out the sky, he'll blast us from the UN Podium.
Let's not forget Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. He's BFF's with everyone from Ahmaninejad to Castro. Last time around he called President Bush Satan. At home he's tearing down golf courses because golf is a "bourgeois" sport. He's also shutting down radio and television stations that dare oppose him.
Each will get time in front of the UN General Assembly and will rip us and our President ad nauseum. All make it a habit of murdering their own people. All put Hitler and Stalin to shame.
President Obama's challenge is to avoid at all costs any opportunity these monsters take to have their picture taken in the same frame with him. Should they succeed it's on every front page in the world. Instant credibility on the world stage.
But it's a good thing that we get to see what monstrous and hateful people they really are. Especially good for those who encourage "engagement" with these monsters to remind them that dreaming the impossible dream is just that.
It's a dangerous thing to shake hands with the devil. There are consequences.
We'll see first hand the enemy, and those that support our enemies. We'll see first hand that there are those who seek to destroy us and admit as much under the sanctuary of the United Nations.
We'll see it. We'll here it. Let's hope we do something about it.
