A political pundit said most of us live life between the 40 yard lines. I'm one of them. Most of the time. Sometimes I'm right of center, sometimes the other way around.

Michael Jackson: RIP (off)

MIchael Jackson died. You may have heard a story about it on the news. Well, actually thousands.

Now come the vultures. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, two shameless hucksters and self-promoters have inserted themselves into the middle of what promises to be months of sordid stories about the life and times of the "King of Pop."

Everyone is going to do to Michael Jackson in death, what they did to him in life, exploit him.

The story was broken by TMZ.com which is unashamedly tabloid. It's what they do and they do it well.

But the coverage my "mainstream" media borders on ridiculous. Anybody who wants to be on camera with something to say about Michael Jackson gets their 15 minutes of fame.

The line starts to the left folks, just follow it around the block.

Michael Jackson used to be an extraordinary entertainer. Whatever happened to him the past 15-20 years is subject to conjecture and ridicule and of course, tabloid madness.

We're all about to discover a lot of things we didn't know about Michael Jackson and it isn't going to be very good in most cases.

And along the way, look for Al Sharpton to make the most of every minute of it.

Very sad end to what was once a charmed life. Mud deliveries have already started.

I DIDN'T KNOW HE DIED?!?! (Well, OK, I did.) I have avoided a LOT of the news about it, which means my media interaction (TV, paper, and 'Net) have HUGELY improved in quality. "Something" to be thankful for.
