Steve Shultz here. I am the YourHub.com community journalist representing the vast and sunny land known as Highlands Ranch. Even though we had his first birthday party March 15, it's still hard for me to believe that my son, Prahlad, is already 1 year old.

He's just growing too fast for me. He started walking at 8 months, and now he's climbing all over the furniture. He has five teeth and he can say a few words. I'm pretty certain his favorite word to say is "no." He says it repeatedly when he knows he's doing something he shouldn't.

He loves to be read to. Without being prompted, he will walk over to the bookshelf, pick up a book and bring it to me to read to him. He will then eagerly plop down in my lap. After I'm done reading a book to him, he will either hand me the same book for another read or he will return to the bookshelf to choose another one.

His birthday party was a blast. There were about 20 family members and friends packed into our little apartment, but it worked out nicely.
